FABLE, 2019.
"FABLE," written and directed by TDPS student Timothy L. Quirus, is a modern-day retelling of the mythologies of the Triple Goddess and Medusa. Is the story complete? And why is the gorgon perpetuated as a monster for the modern world? A young man’s desperation and self-acceptance collide within a mythological world where gods and goddesses exist, and the matriarchy has become clandestine. In November 2019, a workshop performance of "FABLE" featured TDPS student Drew Woodson in the role of Chrysaor (pictured).

Drew Woodson (featured actor) is a Theater and Performance Studies major and a recipient of the 2020 Roslyn Schneider Eisner Prize for Continuing Creative Achievement. He is a member of the Te-Moak Band of Western peoples in Nevada but grew up in Northern California on Pomo land. Drew has been acting in the Bay Area on and off campus for the past five years. Notable roles include George in "Our Town" and Carlo in "Nonna and the Dressmaker" at Altarena Playhouse, as well as Orgon in "Tartuffe," Paolo in "The Dream of Kitamura," and Chrysaor in "FABLE" at UC Berkeley. Under the mentorship of Philip Gotanda, Drew is developing his first full-length play, "Your Friend, Jay Silverheels." The play is about modern day Native actors in the Bay Area being cast in a stereotypical play directed and written by a non-native man. Upon graduation, Drew wants to continue to pursue a career in the arts as a Native actor and playwright, hoping to be part of the positive change in Native representation for future generations.
